お気楽ナンキンハゼ寄せ植え盆栽, Easy Chinese tallow tree Bonsai

去年近所の公園に沢山なっていたナンキンハゼの種を撒いておいた。春になって芽が出揃ってきた。これから寄せ植え盆栽にしてしまおうという訳だ。
Last year, I collected seeds of Chinese tallow tree at a nearby park, and seeded them on a flat pot.  Spring came and they are growing healthy... sort of...  I am attempting to make a bonsai mimicking a forest.

実は去年我が家のハゼノキの種からこんなのができた。紅葉も意外と美しく好評だったので、二匹目の泥鰌を狙っているというわけだ。

Actually, this is the last years outcome using seeds of Japanese wax tree growing in our garden.  Since it turned out to be fairly better than I expected and was liked by my family, I am trying to get lucky again.

巻柏新入り, New Selaginella

ちょくちょく行く園芸店が数軒ある。日曜日にその一つで、商品棚の巻柏が増えているのに気がついた。その中には実物を初めて見たものもあった。良品とは言い難いが、値段の割にはまあまあの状態だった。他にも気になるのはあったが、泰平楽と龍頭を選んだ。あまり沢山でも置き場所がないし、月末には定例の巻柏展示会・即売会もある。
両方共プラポットに川砂で植えられていたが、素焼き鉢に鹿沼土で植え替えた。

There are a couple of gardening shops that I frequently visit.  On last Sunday, I noticed new pots of selaginella were displayed on one of the shelves.  Some of them were what I only have seen in books.  I coud not say they were not in super condition, but not too bad considering the price.  I chose "Taiheiraku" and "Tatsugashira".  Actually there were more than these that I was attracted, but there is not much space to place in our garden, and it is coming bi-annual selaginella sales exhibition at the end of this month.  Both were planted in plastic pots with sand.  I replanted them in unglazed pots with "Kanuma" soil.

コルディリネ水挿し, Propagating Cordyline

3週間前，コルディリネが伸びすぎたので挿し木することにした。
まず，伸びすぎた枝をバッサリ。まだ長すぎる感じなので，更に3本に分割。
I thought my Cordyline was too tall for our room, three weeks ago  I decided to prune and propagate.  First, cut the branch that was too tall.  Still too long.  So, cut it into three peaces.

実はこれは今晩の写真だがまあ大差はない。

ペットボトルに水を張って建てておいた。

さっき書いたように，3週間が経った。勿論，ほぼ毎日水は換えた。結構濁る。

おっ，枝から芽が! 見えるかな? こっちに向いて生えている。

Actually, this is a picture of tonight.  But, the appearance is almost same.

Anyway, I put them in a PET bottle with fresh water.  Three weeks past.  I changed water everyday since the water got dirty everyday.

Look at it!  There's a bud on one of the branch.  It sticks to this direction.

そして根は?

And, roots?

皮が割れたようになっているが，根かどうか判らない。もうしばらく辛抱だ。

Mmmm, the skin of one branch looks broken, but that's it.  I guess we have to wait more.

巻柏石付け, Rock planting

5月のことになるが、巻柏石付けというのを作ってみた。軽石で作った鉢に植えることは今までも経験があったが、今度のは写真のように溶岩石に夢想を巻いて縛り付けるという大胆な方法。

使ったのは、ビロードシダの台に使われていた根から、ビロードシダが消えた後に生えてきてしまったという多分原種の巻柏。丈夫さを期待した。

やや日陰に毎日スプリンクラーで水をかけながら様子を見ている。今の所大きな変化はないようだ。

In May, I planted one of my selaginella on a red lava rock. Until now, all my experience were to plant in regular pots or in pumice stones like the one on the left in the background.  

I wrapped the stone with peat moss, put one of my selaginella, and bound them all with hemp string.  Put it in the shade with a shallow pan watered by sprinkler everyday.  

Nothing drastic happened so far.

 

大晦日

大晦日が今年も来た。
予定では明日からバリに行くはずだったが，キャンセルした。
同行メンバーの一人，娘が胃腸炎になったのだ。症状的には多分ノロ。
本人の回復も必要だし，我々も感染して，飛行機中でノロノロになっては堪らない。
ということで，
いつもと同じ大晦日になりそうだ。
これもまた，ユッタリできて善き哉，善き哉。

クマゼミの襲来

今年は少ないと思っていたら，終に大量に現れた。
朝日が昇ると共に大音声で叫び続ける。
アブラゼミ等と比べて，腰の振り方が尋常ではない。でかい声がするはずだ。

どこから来るのかと思えば，・・・

 我が家で羽化しているらしい。
庭のあちこちに蝉の通ったと思われる穴が開いている。

今日の仕事

暑い日が続き，こんなになっちゃった。でも，未だ生きてる。

地植えにしたバラにもう花芽がついた。すごいパワー

蓼科で買った芝刈バサミ。まぁ，軽やかに切れますね。

蘭に日よけをかけました。

ちょっと暗すぎるか?
