Our house is under attack of furious heat of summer. Still, this Begonia blooming, though. In the past, it had stopped flowering and had dropped all leaves by about this time every year. The repotting I did this spring may have worked well.
Looking at closely I found unfamiliar THINGS hanging.
This is a clearer picture. Seeds it looks like. This is a bulbous begonia. Can it have seeds? Will the seeds germinate?
Some of seeds are in more ripen status.
Looking for some comment in the internet gave no answer. Am I the first to find this in the world?
I removed some and planted in soil. Let's see how it will be.

On a rainy day.
2016.4.21
It's started to rain from around noon today. The baby turtledoves were playing in the rain in the afternoon, but it looks a little cold after sky got darker in the evening. Why doesn't it hide under any tree? Is it waiting for their parent?
In a day like today, let's look back a picture in a bright day.
Since I thought I'd better stay indoor, I replanted succulents survived winter into three small pots. The larger one at the far back is the pot I made cuttings.
Looking at a pot of begonia, I found young leaves had come out - but from only one bulb. There is another bulb that might have been dead.
By the rainy window these succulents babies are sucking their parents, and growing fast without any water from outside. Amazing.

It is horribly hot here. Outside temp is 36 deg C high and the low is 26 deg C. When I go outside, I really feel like I enter an heated oven. Some of my succulents died. It is about time to let some of the plats cool off in the air-conditioned room.
The first one I brought in was this fern. As it is planted in a small dent on a porous lava rock, the heat affected it really badly. I took it in when it was about to become dry leaves. With some water in the dish under the rock, now it looks really pleased.

The next are bulbous Begonias. They are known to hate summer heat. Last year it went hibernated dropping all their leaves. Mostly they recover in autumn, but I think it has their big energy lost. I took them in when they started losing their leaves.
This one have two young seed sheaths, and I wish they survive to grow into young plants.
It was a little too late for this one. The main stem is dying, but the young buds started to grow from the soil.

Good news and Bad news
2015.6.1
There are a good news and a bad news, today.
First the good news is that Lemon I brought back from my travel started to grow again. I had it sun burnt about a month ago when I put it outside for the first time. Halves of the leaves have gone, but today I found tiny new leaves came out.

Now, the bad news is about Begonia masoniana that showed new leaves in April. First I had it too wet and it became weak. After that I was out of house about ten days. While I am not at home, automatic sprinkler was supposed to keep it moist. However, what I found when I came home is dried soil and leaves. I don't know if it was because of unusual heat waves that attacked the area one day before, or my placement of the pot on the shelf was not good. Still I have not given up and keep on watering it every day.

Begonia masoniana, Iron cross is patient. Very patient.
2015.4.4
Last June, my college held a farewell party for me.
This is the bouquet presented to me.
Another close up picture.
Today's story features this Begonia masoniana. A synonym is iron cross. I took a good care of the bouquet, but one by one the flowers and leaves have gone. Fewer and fewer they became, Calla was one of them stayed healthy long.
I thought it is pity to have the begonia gone in a vase, I buried a half of the leaf in shallow soil in a small pot. Nothing happened until I found a lot of roots pouring from the bottom of the pot a few months later. I felt promising and repotted it to a larger pot.
It has passed almost a half year of reconciling days, and spring has come. I was a little expecting that a new leaf may come out since spring is such a season. A few days ago, I saw a white hairy stuff on the surface. I thought it might be mold, and had to remove soon.
This morning, the hairy stuff changed the color. Looking closer, it is not mold. Even with my old eyes, I recognized it is a new leaf.
I tried to propagate this red dracaena, but it did not grow any roots, and I gave up.

Let's protect Nagoya City Agriculture Center Begonia Conservatory
2014.4.30

Fire Cracker reborn
June 22, weather was fine after several day's continuous rain. I was wandering in our garden to see if there is anything new. Behind the house where I am keeping potted plants while they are not displayed, I glimpsed something that were not there before.
Begonia. I replanted two stocks that formed buds before, and abandoned remaining soil in this large pot. After all, surprisingly all three stocks are live.
I dug out the stock and replanted in a separate pot. It was too bad that I couldn't find proper pot, and decided to use one a little too shallow and heaped up soil around the stock. I have to keep it well drained because it is not so strong against both hot and cold seasons.
The stocks replanted before have already started to grow fast. One of them started blooming. It seems they are vigorous than I thought.
This is a picture of them in full bloom last June.
In summer it is damaged, so I moved it to shaded area and had it survive by keeping it fairly dry. In winter I kept it inside of a room, but all leaves went out. I watered it a little to maintain some humidity while worrying it might have died. I am pleased that I did my best.
