日一日と秋の涼しさが深まる。イワヒバの色が少しづつ変わっていくのを見るのは楽しいよ。涼しくなっていくともっともっと色が変わっていくだろうと楽しみにしているんだ。
Day by day, autumn coolness deepens. It is interesting looking at the color of my selaginella change slowly. I expect they will change color more and more as the wether gets colder.

「中国之華」。こいつはヨトウムシとその後の苔から良く立ち直ったよ。葉の中央部がオレンジ色に染まってきたな。
"Chinese Flower". It recovered well after the damage of worms and moss after that. It gets to wear the orange in the middle of the leaves.

「福寿」。黄色が深まり金色に見えてきた。
"Long life and happiness". The yellow gets deeper and it looks gold.

「紅孔雀」。名前の通り段々紅くなる。
"Red peacock". Just as the name shows, it gets redder and redder.

「鏡獅子」。こいつも金色になってくる。
"Lions in a mirror". It also goes golden.

「紫金欄」。こいつは中央の葉がオレンジになっているが、葉の端はまだ黄色だな。
"Purple gold fabric". It has orange at the leaves at center, and the edge of the leaves are still yellow.

「美園の花」。葉の一部しかオレンジになっていない。
"Flowers in a beautiful garden". Only a part of the leaves became orange.

The hint of autumn 秋の兆し

21と書いてみて、もう九月も下旬だというのに少し驚いた。去年は、夏、夏、夏、突然冬という味気ない年だったが。今年は夏から秋へのゆっくりとした移り変わりが楽しめた。
Writing 21, it is a bit of surprise that it is already late September. Last year autumn was nowhere, and tasteless like summer, summer, summer, and winter all the sudden. We have been able to enjoy the slow change of seasons from summer to autumn this year.

植物も季節の変化に気づいている。そして季節に相応しく装い始めた。
The plants have also noticed the change of seasons. And they have started to display themselves appropriate for the season.

ハゼノキの寄せ植え鉢は葉が全て黄色と赤に染まった。
A bush pot of wax trees with leaves all yellow and red.

アメリカハナミズキ。この木は斑入りの葉が綺麗なのだが、ここに植えて20年以上一度も花が咲いたことがない。その頑固さは「俺の特技は美しい葉なんだよ。その辺の普通の花じゃねぇんだ。」と主張しているようだ。
Dogwood leaves. This tree is beautiful for the variegated leaves but never flowered for more than twenty years since planted here. The stubbornness is like insisting, "My speciality is just beautiful leaves, not those ordinary flowers like the others around."
